Former federal prosecutor Joe DiGenova sez Hillary Clinton is in grave danger of being indicted in the next 60 days.
"I believe that the evidence that the FBI is compiling will be so compelling that, unless [Attorney General Loretta Lynch] agrees to the charges, there will be a massive revolt inside the FBI, which she will not be able to survive as an attorney general. It will be like Watergate. It will be unbelievable," DiGenova said.
"The evidence against the Clinton staff and the secretary is so overwhelming at this point that if, in fact, she chooses not to charge Hillary, they will never be able to charge another federal employee with the negligent handling of classified information," he added. "The intelligence community will not stand for that. They will fight for indictment and they are already in the process of gearing themselves to basically revolt if she refuses to bring charges."DiGenova is a conservative Republican so maybe a lot of this is wishful thinking on his part.
Still, an indictment could actually work to the advantage of Democrats. Clinton is a very flawed candidate and could easily lose to any reasonable Republican. The ads against her write themselves.
Imagine a line-up of lied to Benghazi families and the women abused at the hands of her husband. It won't be pretty. But it will be effective when tied to her incompetence as a Secretary of State, her shady (illegal) email operation, and her get-rich-quick speaking fees and foundation.
If she were forced to withdraw from the race, some white knight (Biden, Elizabeth Warren) might be drafted to take her place. (Bernie Sanders would be a disaster candidate for the party)
GOP strategists know exactly how to run against Hillary. Not so much a surprise candidate that liberals and a few Independents could rally behind.
Smart Republican partisans shouldn't be cheering for a Hillary indictment. However, those who would like to see the rule of law upheld without fear or favor should.
